Baramasa is an initiative by a group of young journalists who have a proven track record of quality ground reports, work experience of most reputed National and International News organisations and several National awards for excellence in Journalism.
Having pulled out of their high paying jobs of serving big media houses and newspapers, these Journalists decided to tread back to their roots to lay the foundation of Baramasa, a one of its kind initiatives of ARCHIVING and documenting the rich tradition, history and culture of Uttarakhand. Baramasa is proposing to be a public supported media house.
We take pride in the fact that we have no corporate or political partnership or allegiance. With limited resources and unlimited dedication, we are attempting to develop an alternate media platform. It is a pursuit to document and archive the rich society, glorious traditions, majestic folklores and spell bounding history, a fragile polity and an intricate ecology of the state.
Barmasa is engaged in documenting Uttarakhand through an audio visual format and quality podcasts. The vision is to capture the beauty and richness of our state systematically to preserve it for future generations and the ever migrating populace. In our effort we intend to counter the major problems that our state has been dealing with of migration, of ecological and environmental issues and policy paralysis.
We are on a mission of creating an audio visual encyclopedia of Uttarakhand. Our effort is to create a sense of belonging and familiarity for the migrated youth. We intend to bring out the issues of the state into the mainstream debates to counter the policy paralysis that only understands the construction of roads to be the precursor of development.
We are making an effort that Uttarakhand be not known in the map of India as a state of environmental disasters but be known for what it is worth, its beauty, its rich cultural composition, its glorious heritage and its contemporary struggles. We aim to connect with our people, conserve their roots to the state and bring the stories of the hinterland out onto the centre stage.
In achieving this aim we depend upon you, the people who have a sense of belongingness to Uttarakhand. Subscribe to Baramasa, support us and contribute in ARCHIVING UTTARAKHAND.
